Artist: Eduardo Castrillo (1942-2016)
Size: Approximately 9 in. x 4 in.
About the work:
Despite that it is quite a small piece compared to his gargantuan landmark projects, Salamat by Eduardo Castrillo still maintains a presence on its own. It can be blown up and the impact will still be similar, if not the same. Neither a maquette nor a study, Salamat retains its master’s hold on the material. Castrillo crafted it with an economy of means, by simply cutting, twisting and joining parts of various brass metal sheets, which gives the piece its unprecedented freshness.
